Crochet Drunken Granny Stitch Written Pattern:
Chain 34 (or any multiple of 5, plus 4 more chains).
Row 1: Sk 5 ch, (3 dc, ch 2, 1 dc) in next ch. *Sk 4 ch, (3 dc, ch 2, 1 dc) in next ch. Rep from * until 3 ch are left. Sk 2 ch, dc in last ch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3. *(3 dc, ch 2, 1 dc) in next ch-2 sp. Rep from * across all ch-2 sps. Dc in last dc.
Repeat row 2 for the stitch pattern!
Step 1:
First, make your chain with a multiple of 5+4. Next, skip the first 5 chains and make 3 dc in the 6th chain. Note that the 5 skipped chains count as a double crochet, plus 2 chains.
Step 2:
Chain 2, and then make one more double crochet in the SAME chain. You’ve now finished one drunken granny stitch!
Step 3:
Skip 4 chains this time, then make a drunken granny stitch into the 5th chain. (Remember, a drunken granny is made by doing 3 double crochet, 2 chains, and then 1 more double crochet all into the same stitch).
Step 4:
Repeat step 3 across the whole row, until there are only 3 chains left. Skip two of these chains and simply make a double crochet into the last chain to finish the row.
Step 5:
Turn your work and chain 3 to start the next row. Then, insert your hook into the next CHAIN SPACE to start your first drunken granny stitch.
You will now be making drunken granny stitches into every chain space of the row.
